Missions at Pleasant Union Church
Pleasant Union Church is a missions-minded church, not only helping locally and conference-wide, but nationally and internationally. (There is a notebook in the church’s history room that pictorially records our building team efforts begun back in the 1960’s when our charge pastor Rev. Clyde Faulkner initiated our involvement in missions building teams—a new concept of missions for the Western NC Conference.)
In the past thirty-six years several Pleasant Union members have been involved with teams building and repairing churches in Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Panama, Bolivia, Armenia and Guatemala, as well as hurricane relief in southern Florida, Mississippi, eastern NC, etc. We have had members of all ages from 18-yr-olds to 75 yr-olds involved in these projects. In addition we have had team members working in Guatemala to install wood-burning stoves and water filters. All of this could not have been accomplished without the support of the church family.
In addition to funding a missions budget each year that helps locally, conference-wide, nationally and internationally, we sponsor monthly projects for the benefit of the surrounding community. (See attached projects list for 2023.)
